About Us

The Toowoomba Central Little Athletics Story

The Wilsonton Little Athletic Centre commenced competition with 30-40 registered athletes at the Wilsonton State School Oval at the start of 1983. The centre moved to Doyle Oval, Newtown Park at the beginning of 1984. Competition throughout the years has varied from 30-200+ registered athletes. Competitions were held on Sunday afternoons at Newtown Park for the next 13 years. We moved to the O’Quinn Street Oval at the end of 1995.

The move to the O’Quinn Street Athletic Facility was possible through the voluntary work and dedication of many people. Some members thought the task ahead was beyond our capabilities. It was a lot of hard, enjoyable work and looking back it is difficult to believe that the oval was once rocky, overgrown land. The committee voted for a name change in 1997 and we became The Toowoomba Central Little Athletics Centre.
