Athletics Training

Athletes are provided the opportunity to practice and hone their skills and technique at our weekly Centre Competitions.

Our Parent Training Day covers the how-to of officiating at each event, using the iPads and ResultsHQ to input results and basic technique/regulations for each event.

Depending on volunteer coach availability, other specific training sessions may also be offered throughout the season where possible. Little Athletics Queensland host optional coaching clinics and camps for registered members throughout the season. These are a chance for athletes to receive quality high-level coaching, develop their skills and make new friends. For details on upcoming events, visit the LAQ website.

Stay tuned to the Toowoomba Little Athletics Facebook page for upcoming scheduled training days or check out the season calendar

Many of our athletes who compete at a high level also participate in regular training year-round with private coaches to hone their skills in their favourite events. If your child is interested in further training but you’re not sure where to start or who to contact, see below coach profiles or get in touch with us as we may be able help you to find a suitable coach.

MARK HAHN | High Jump Coach

Mark is married with three children and as a family, has been residents of Toowoomba since 2017. Working full time in a different industry, athletics and in particular High Jump was a long-term interest for Mark. Previously competing as a Junior and Senior athlete in the sport, coaching became a natural progression as Mark grew older and family commitments became part of his life.

Raised on the family farm near Kingaroy, sport was always something Mark liked to be involved in. An interest in High Jump developed early and remained a focus for a number of years, though access to coaches was very limited within the South Burnett. This formed part of the reason for Mark wanting to take up coaching after his competitive days.

While competing, Mark experienced the following success:

  • Member of Qld State Athletics Team
  • 3 x Queensland State High Jump Titles
  • 2 x Silver medallist in High Jump (consecutive years) at Australian All Schools

Purpose & Goal

My aim is to create an opportunity for willing regional or rural athletes to learn and develop their abilities within the sport.
